Kwame Phillips

CHIEF OF STAFF

Kwame is an integral extension of the Chief Executive Officer within the Bizzell family of companies, providing critical support to the CEO by developing strategies for operations, internal management, and aligning leadership with corporate goals and priorities. He oversees strategy development, project management, corporate special initiatives, and the implementation of division-wide business processes.

Prior to his role at Bizzell, his career and background entails efforts as a Diversity, Inclusion, & Equity (DEI) Educator & Strategist with over ten years of experience in Post-Secondary Education, Non-Profit, and Private Sectors. Kwame conducted program design, development, implementation, and assessment at institutions like Johns Hopkins University, Armstrong State University, Clark Atlanta University, and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He proposed recommendations and initiatives to senior leadership on DEI issues, impacting faculty, staff, and students to improve equitable and inclusive practices and outcomes.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Diversity & Inclusion at Johns Hopkins, he led the Multicultural Affairs department by developing key performance indicators, utilizing his background in DEI to provide comprehensive instruction and training to his team and stakeholders, ensuring smooth departmental operations and output with supervising a 30-person team of professional staff, as well as graduate and undergraduate program coordinators and mentors. He oversaw six DEI initiatives, more than thirty-six cultural organizations, and over thirty intercultural programs.

Coming from Johns Hopkins University and the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion world, Kwame has had a background in student success, retention initiatives, diversity education, and communications and leadership. Kwame graduated from Armstrong State University, now known as Georgia Southern University, with an undergraduate degree in business economics and a graduate degree in communications and leadership. A native of Dublin, Georgia, Kwame brings a rich and varied expertise to his role, making a lasting impact on the Bizzell family of companies.
